DOHA: Jobs with responsibility and support through a proactive shadowing scheme are the key to developing more Qatari leaders in the energy industry, said an expert.
A P Moller, Maersk’s Global Head of Talent and Performance Management, Ricardo Sookdeo made the comments speaking at Qatar Petroleum’s first Human Resources Conference, which focused on building capabilities in the energy and industry sector.
Maersk Oil Qatar recently announced a new approach to attracting, developing and retaining Qataris through a revitalised Qatarisation Strategy, supported by the high profile Find Your Place recruitment campaign.
Sookdeo said, “Qatarisation is a core business priority for Maersk Oil. We have made great strides in the past five years with a doubling in the number of Qataris at Maersk Oil and a 23 percent increase in those with a Bachelor degree, but we recognise more can be done to unlock human potential and develop the leaders of the future.
“We are committed to quadrupling the number of Qataris in leadership positions and senior specialist roles at Maersk Oil by 2017.”
