DOHA: H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, has been honoured with ‘The CSR Person of the Year award’, which will become an annual honour celebrating the most prominent figures who contribute to CSR in Qatar.
The award was presented at the launch ceremony of “CSR Report Qatar 2014’, held by the Qatar University College of Business and Economics in partnership with Qatar CSR Network.
The ceremony was attended by government ministers, professors, ambassadors, partners, sponsors and guests who contributed to the Report and were honoured on the occasion.
Al Attiyah said, “As I stand here today, I am overwhelmed with happiness and pride to be on the campus of Qatar University, of which we are proud for its great role in building Qatari society and developing its human resources. I am also happy to meet this constellation of academics, researchers and students.
“Being chosen as CSR Person of the Year is a source of great pride to me for many reasons. Most notably that it stems from a report that is overseen by the first national incubator for education in Qatar. Furthermore, it represents an important milestone, assessing a long career during which I was keen to offer my best to serve and implement the values and principles of our nation, led by H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Father Emir.”
QU President Prof Al Misnad said, “I would like to point out that social responsibility is an integral part of our daily work, aiming to build a national legacy in line with the pillars of Qatar’s National Vision 2030. Nurturing the principles of social responsibility is not only integral to the welfare of society but also to the University’s ability to achieve its mission, engage academic staff and inspire students.”
This is the third edition of the CSR Report that Qatar CSR Network releases in collaboration with Qatar University, the academic partner. The Report is the main reference in monitoring, documenting and identifying the indicators of CSR in Qatar.
Qatar CSR Report also honoured the partners and contributors of government agencies and private and multinational organisations, including the Qatar Ministry of Transport, Qatar Central Bank, Civil Aviation Authority and a number of Qatar Foundation institutions such as the Doha International Family Institute, Best Buddies Qatar, Qatar Academy, Shafallah and Qatar Diabetes Association, as well as Ihsan, Asthma Qatar Network and Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities.
