Workers Cup: Taleb Group registers big win

Last year’s finalists at the Workers Cup - Taleb Group and Gulf Contracting company- registered identical 7-0 wins in the league matches to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the next phase of the tournament.

Defending champions Taleb Group lived up to their champions credentials by completing a 7-0 rout of Boom Construction in the Group C match.

Last year’s runners-up, Gulf Contracting company playing in Group G trounced Carillion 7-0.

Kevin Otieno stole the show grabbing a hat-trick in Gulf Contracting company big win. GCC now lead the group with 6 points ahead of their match against G4S next week.

In Group A, Shapoorji Pallonji registered a 4-1 win against BOTC. BOTC opened the scoring in the 7th minute but after that it was all about Shapoorji Pallonji, who came from behind to eventually win 4-1.

In the same group, Nakheel Landscapes staved off a determined Galfar Al Misnad side with a thrilling 3-1 win.
ohammed opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a well taken penalty. Nakheel doubled their lead and took a a decisive grip of the tie with a second goal six minutes later by Faisal who scored with a towering header from a corner kick. Galfarr pulled a goal back one back in the 28th minute However, Kanote ensured three points for Nakheel minutes later.

In Group B, Delta Doha corporation grabbed a comprehensive 4-1 win against Aktor SA.  Delta raced into a three goal lead before Aktor pulled a goal back. Delta attacker Arjun struck late to give his side a 4-1 win.

In the other match, three second half goals from ALYSJ ensured a comfortable win over G5 Security.

Albert Turkson steered home the opening goal with a delicate touch in the 34th minute. Then Ibrahim Yakabu opened up the defence with a dink inside to Yaw who turned and shot home, with the G5 goalkeeper flat footed. Vincent netted the third goal to rubberstamp the win for ALYSJ.

In Group C, Trags Qatar earned a thrilling draw against Arab Coast Projects in a four-goal thriller.
Raymond Surfo put Arab coast into the lead. TRAGS bounced back and duely equalized before Arab Coast retook the lead. In the end, TRAGS left it late to register an important draw.

In Group D, Mowasalat scored three goals in eight minutes to blow the inexperienced Cofely side and set up an exciting 6-1. Mowasalat’s striker Abdul Ghane was the star of the show, grabbing an impressive hat-trick for his team.

Another Group D match, Al Asmakh Facilities trounced Al Balagh 20-0. Al Asmakh striker Abubakr Faisal grabbed ten goals as his side proved too strong for Al Balagh.

In Group E, 2014 Champions Tanzifco suffered a humiliating 11-0 loss at the hands of Larsen & Toubro. L&T’s attacker Mohammed Amin scored four goals to add to his team’s spectacular performance, while Doha Pest Company edged QDVC 1-0.

A 43rd minute strike by Williams Gaseba did the damage, for his side, who defeated a much improved QDVC team.

In Group F, Al Balagh L&T JV won the six-goal thriller against Medgulf Construction.

The match also saw 3 goals coming off penalties in a highly entertaining game.

Desert Line Projects registered a thumping 8-0 win over Dico-Tech Qatar.

In Group G, Bhakta Bhandari salvaged a deserved point for Outlook Trading, scoring in the 56th minute to level the game at 1-1 against Dulsco Qatar.

In the battle for supremacy of Group G, AALCO notched an impressive 5-0 win over NAAS Group, consigning NAAAS to their second defeat of the competition.
