Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) confirmed that baby formulas made by Abbott available in the local market are safe for consumption.
MoPH announced that the laboratory results issued by the Central Food Laboratories of the Ministry confirmed the safety of all samples that were withdrawn from the local market of the infant formula milk powder products for special uses - Similac Human Milk Fortifier, Elecare, Elecare JR - produced by Abbott company, origin in the United States of America.
The ministry also confirmed that all relevant products offered in the local market are safe for human consumption.
The Ministry had taken precautionary measures few weeks back when it received a notification from the international network of food safety officials (Infosan) regarding potentially contaminated baby milk powder products. It had withdrawn these products from the market.
Now after conducting tests in its laboratory, MoPH has cleared the formulas for consumption.
