Sharjah: The regional network of social responsibility announced yesterday the winners of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) award for humanitarian work, in its 2014 edition.
Chairman of the regional network Professor Yousef Abdul Ghaffar said that the award was given to H E Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson of Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs, and the UN Special Rapporteur on Disability from Qatar, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, President of Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Royal Charity Organisation, Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Dr Abdul Mohsen Al Jarallah Al Kharafi, Secretary-General of Kuwait’s General Secretariat of Awqaf, Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif Al Kalbani, Chairman of the Main Committee for Sultan Qaboos Prize for Voluntary Work in Oman. Sheikha Fariha Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, President of the Kuwait Association for The Ideal Family, won the GCC award for leading humanitarian organisation.
Doha: The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari honoured yesterday Arab and Qatari artists who participated in the first Arab Art Salon for youth. The Salon held in Katara conducted a number of workshops that included 20 artists from Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Qatar. Al Kuwari viewed the works of the artists during the workshops.
