Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s 3x3 basketball team bowed out of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 after a narrow 17-20 loss to China in the quarter-finals yesterday, bringing an end to a competitive campaign in Singapore.
The contest remained tight throughout, with both sides trading points in a high-tempo battle. China edged ahead in the closing stages, converting key chances to secure a three-point win and advance to the semifinals, while Qatar exited at the last-eight stage.
Qatar progressed to the knockout rounds after finishing second in Group D. They opened with a solid 16-11 victory over India, built on disciplined defense and controlled execution. A tougher second outing followed, as they fell 11-21 to New Zealand.
China advanced from Group B after a mixed start. They suffered a narrow 19-21 defeat to Malaysia but responded with a strong 21-15 win over Australia to confirm their place in the quarter-finals.
