Doha: The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) conducted a mock drill at W Doha Hotel (QIC) in Dafna yesterday as part of its efforts to raise safety awareness.
The drill started with information received at operation room on a fire outbreak in the Hotel’s ninth floor. Firefighting and rescue team from Wadi Al Sail Civil Defence Centre moved to the site along with mobile escalator vehicle with 55m height used for firefighting in high-rise buildings, fire engine and rapid intervention vehicle.
The security personnel evacuated the building and guided the employees to the safe assembly point as fire alarm went off.
The Firefighting team of Civil Defence controlled the fire mock drill and started a search operation for missing persons as well as for injured persons. Rescue Police (Al Fazaa) also participated in the exercise.
The exercise was supervised by Capt Khamees Salem Al Suwaidi, head of Azizia Civil Defence Centre and evacuation officer at GDCD.the peninsula
