Doha: Injaz Qatar — a non-profit organisation and member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide — for the seventh consecutive year will host the Mubadara Annual Young Enterprise of the Year competition on May 10 and 11.
Mubadara 2014 is a competition for student enterprises established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognised company programme. Ten student teams from Qatar’s independent secondary schools and five student teams from universities in Qatar were provided with the opportunity to establish and run a real business over four months with the guidance of professionals.
“This year we are providing students with a unique opportunity for budding young entrepreneurs to showcase their business acumen and creativity to some of Qatar’s most successful business leaders and excitingly, potential investors,” said Aysha Al Mudahka, Executive Director of Injaz Qatar. “We are proud to enjoy the support of such an esteemed group of sponsors and judges, who alongside the hundreds of corporate volunteers are making this year’s entrepreneurial programs more successful than ever before.”
The Mubadara competition consists of four stages, which are judged by an esteemed panel of judges: students firstly drafted an initial Company Report detailing their business and company approach. On May 10 they will deliver their business presentations and will take part in panel interviews at the Qatar University Center for Entrepreneurship.
This year’s judging panel comprises Dr Mohammed Al Mulla, CEO of Qapco; Ibrahim Al Mannai Manager Learning & Development, Enterprise Qatar; Nasser Al Jaber, Community Investments Manager of ExxonMobil; Omar Aloyoun, Head of Marketing and PR, Qatar Business Incubation Centre; Shareefa Fadhel, Managing Director, Roudha Center; and Jassim Al Baker, Head of Development of Enterprise Qatar.
The university-level winners and runners-up of the Best Student Company Award will be given the opportunity for their businesses to take part in Injaz Qatar Start-Up Program. As part of the program the student companies will receive a combination of seed funding and 20 hours of professional mentoring.
