DOHA: Qatar Exchange’s (QE) benchmark index lost 437.40 points, or 4.29 percent, during the past trading week compared to the previous week when the exchange closed trading at 9,748.78 points yesterday.
Trading value during the week decreased by 24.88 percent to reach about QR1.32bn compared to about QR1.76bn.
Trading volume decreased by 30.06 percent to reach about 42.5 million shares, as against about 60.76 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 20.10 percent, to reach 21,986 transactions as compared to 27,518 transactions.
Market cap during the week fell by 4.14 percent to reach about QR526.76bn as compared to about QR549.53bn at the end of previous week. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value with 33.66 percent of the total. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 20.72 percent. Industries sector accounted for 18.84 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 11.32 percent.
Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume with 39.1 percent of the total. Real Estate sector accounted for 18.31 percent. Industries sector accounted for 15.68 percent and Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 12.22 percent.
Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions past week with 34.79 percent of the total. Industrials sector accounted for 18.85 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 15.16 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 11.93 percent. From the 44 listed companies six ended the week higher, while 36 fell and two unchanged.
Widam Food Company led trading value the week accounted for 13.23 percent of the total. Qatar First Bank (QFC) accounted for 6.6 percent QNB accounted for 6.02 percent, reports QNA.
On daily basis, the index dropped 106.07 points, or 1.08 percent yesterday compared to Wednesday.
The volume of shares was down to about 7.39 million from about 8.83 million on previous day and the value of shares decreased to about QR252.43m from about QR298.39m on Wednesday.
From the 44 companies listed, shares of 38 saw trading yesterday. From these 11 gained, 26 closed lower and one remained unchanged.
Among the top losers were Ooredoo whose share declined by 3.37 percent to QR86, Qatar Insurance lost 3.10 percent to QR75.10, Vodafone Qatar fell 2.73 percent to QR11.42 and Doha Bank decreased by 2.58 percent to QR35.85.
The Banking and Financial sector index was dropped 1.03 percent to 2,645.6 points, while Consumer Goods and Services sector index fell 0.12 percent to 6,415.66 points. The industrial sector lost 0.33 percent to 3,029.57 points and Insurance sector decreased 2.32 percent to 4,144.87 points.
