Rabat: The Moroccan authorities announced on Monday that they had foiled high-stake and advanced terrorist plots that were intended to compromise public order and the security of people and property.
According to a statement from Morocco's Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, security personnel conducted concomitant operations in multiple cities, namely Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, El Hajeb, Tetouan, Fquih Ben Salah, and Safi.
Based on top-level precision intelligence information, these operations resulted in the apprehension of ten people purported to have been connected with these plots, the statement reads.
It added that among those arrested was a former detainee convicted under the anti-terrorism law.
The statement further clarified that those engaged in these plots had been operating through logistical coordination and operational support from the ISIS branch in the Sahel region of Africa.
It noted that the inspection operations led to the seizure of military uniforms and scripts showcasing detailed methods of how to install booby traps, alongside digital platforms and visual content, and explicit threats to carry out acts of sabotage inside Morocco.
