Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the opening of registration for its Tomouh (Ambition) Programme, a government scholarship initiative designed to attract and prepare Qatari students for careers in teaching through study opportunities at accredited universities in Qatar and abroad.

In a post on its X platform, the ministry said the programme offers students aspiring to join the teaching profession the opportunity to pursue scholarships in specified education-related disciplines, supporting the development of qualified national educators who will contribute to Qatar’s education sector and broader national development.

Registration for the programme will be open from November 15 to December 30, 2026. The Tomouh Programme is one of the ministry’s flagship scholarship initiatives aimed at building a sustainable pipeline of qualified Qatari teachers. Through government-sponsored study at accredited higher education institutions, the programme seeks to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the evolving needs of the country’s education system.

To qualify for the programme, applicants must have obtained at least 70% in the General Secondary Certificate examination, secure a final unconditional admission offer from one of the approved universities, and meet the general requirements of the government scholarship programme.

Female applicants are additionally required to achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 and obtain admission in one of the education specialisations designated under the programme.

The ministry highlighted an attractive package of financial support and benefits for scholarship recipients. Students enrolled in the Tomouh Programme will receive a monthly stipend of QR10,000, a one-time laptop allowance of QR5,000, and an annual book allowance of QR5,000 throughout their studies.

Male students admitted under the programme will also enjoy additional employment-related incentives. They will be appointed directly to Grade 9 upon acceptance into the government scholarship programme, receive both their scholarship stipend and government salary simultaneously, and have their study period counted as part of their years of government service.
