ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will chair a high level meeting in Islamabad today to review the flood situation prevailing in various parts of the country.
He is currently in Saudi Arabia on private engagements to offer prayers and perform Umrah but he is in constant contact with the authorities concerned for obtaining reports on the developments and relief activities for the rain and flood affected people.
The prime minister will be returning on Tuesday morning as per his schedule and it is likely that he would undertake visit of the affected areas soon after returning home.
Well placed sources of the Prime Minister Office said yesterday that Nawaz Sharif is affording all expenses of his sojourn to Saudi Arabia from his own pocket and returning by commercial flight as he proceeded by the same along with members of his family.
He has been given exceptionally extraordinary Royal Protocol during his stay in the Kingdom despite the visit was categorized as private.
He was received by Custodian of the two Holy Masques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Makkah. It was a rare gesture that King Abdullah opted to receive the prime minister of Pakistan in the holiest city of the world where he goes for special prayers and doesn’t transact official business in that city of the greatest reverence.
The meeting between the visiting prime minister and Saudi Monarch stated to be extremely useful where the two brotherly countries have decided to enhance their cooperation many fold. It covered the spheres of economy and trade with special reference. It will also help in promoting the political ties of the two countries.
