Doha: Veteran campaigner Marlon Manalo of Philippines and compatriot Recky Boy Puro qualified for the main draw of the World 9-ball Pool Championship.
Manalo and Boy Puro were among the 12 players who made it to the Stage 2 of the 12-day championship which is taking place at Al Arabi Stadium. Others who have qualified for the next stage were Choa Fong Pong, Hsu Kai Lun, both of Chinese Taipei.
The championship is sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and the Asian Pocket Billiard Union (APBU).
Besides hosts Qatar, players from USA, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Bangladesh, Austria, Australia, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Syria, UK, Taiwan, Japan, China, Iran, Bahrain, Algeria, Egypt, Comoros, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Albania, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Finland, Portugal, Kuwait, Lebanon, India, Philippines, Hungary, and Canada are taking part in the championship.The Peninsula
