TAMPA Florida: Police captured a Florida man sought in four murders and the disappearance of a four-year-old boy holed up in a downtown Tampa hotel, authorities said yesterday.
Adam Matos, 28, was arrested at the Floridan Palace Hotel where investigators say he had fled with the boy, said Kevin Doll, spokesman for Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Matos is being held in the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of domestic violence by aggravated assault. Matos is also a suspect in the murders of two men and two women whose bodies were found piled up in a roadside ditch near the boy’s home in Hudson in Pasco County 45 miles north of Tampa, Doll said.
The bodies have not yet been positively identified by authorities.
Matos came to the attention of Pasco County deputies on August 28 when his ex-girlfriend, who is the child’s mother, called to report that Matos held a knife to her throat at the Hudson home.
Matos was not at the house when deputies arrived, Doll said. Family members asked deputies on Thursday morning to check the house, which is in a rural and wooded area, when they could not reach anyone at the home.
