The events included Eid Al Adha festival programme, the story of the universe and the Big Bang show which attracted a large number of spectators from within and outside Qatar.
The Big Bang show tells the story of how the solar system was formed through a breathtaking display of gigantic balloons representing the planets which decorated the skies of Katara.
Accompanied by scientific facts, the presentation focused on the sun, earth and moon in an entertaining blend of fantasy and reality through the use of modern techniques of lighting, music and dramatic stunts.
The award-winning Qatari play Abu Salama also saw huge turnout at Katara Drama Theatre.
The 90-minute play features some of the finest talents in Qatari theatre and centres on the theme of injustice committed by man to another. The play, which is free to the public, will be staged again tonight at 8pm.
The 15-minute fireworks display, which culminated the night’s shows, lit up the skies of Katara along with laser lights and music.
The Big Bang show and fireworks display will continue until tomorrow. The Big Bang show is presented thrice at 7.30pm, 9.30pm and 10pm, followed by fireworks display at 11pm.
