DOHA: The Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada will open the forthcoming Gulf Safety Forum (GSF) to be held in Doha on October 30. The two-day forum will take place under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Organised by Euro Petroleum Consultants and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), the high-level conference will bring together key industry players from across the region to discuss strategies for continuous improvement of safety procedures.
Successful case studies and roadmaps towards achieving the goal of zero accidents will be shared during the forum.
International safety experts and providers of safety tools and technologies will also present the latest methodologies which can assist companies to achieve these goals.
Representatives from diverse industry sectors, including oil, gas, petrochemicals, aluminium, transport and construction, will also attend the forum. Qatar-based Oryx GTL is in the list of high level presenters. ORYX, on August 25 this year, had achieved a significant milestone of five years without any recorded injury to an employee, contractor or visitor on our facilities in Doha and Ras Laffan.
During the event the GSF Safety Award will be presented to the company which has demonstrated the best overall achievement in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) over the last two years.
The Judging panel includes DuPont Sustainable Solutions and Texas A&M University amongst others and will celebrate the company who has found innovative ways of making lasting improvements to the safety and health of their workers, to the environment and to productivity.
Keynote Speakers include world renowned process safety expert, Dr. Sam Mannan, Regents Professor and Director of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University, as well as Dr Laurence Cusco, Head of International Unit at the UK’s Health and Safety Laboratory.
