Doha: To commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) and municipal authorities, held a tree plantation event in Old Airport Park.
Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Dr. Deepak Mittal, ICC Coordinating officer and 1st Secretary Xavier Dhanraj, participated with Mohammed Abdullaa Mohammed from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for participation in such programmes, by the Indian community and thanked the municipal authorities for the extended support. The MME has targeted to plant a million trees across Qatar under its ‘Plant Million Tree’ initiative.
The Ambassador reiterated that the Indian community would extend all support and participate in planting a million trees across the country. Qatar is home away from home for all Indians and will do everything possible to keep the environment clean and green.
ICC Management Committee, along with President P N Babu Rajan, attended the programme. ICC Youth wing team was also present.
