Doha: The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, is arriving here on a two-day official visit today and top of his agenda is to woo investments.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of H H the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, a Pakistan embassy release said yesterday. This is the first bilateral visit of a Pakistani head of state after a gap of seven years.
“After the official talks with the Emir, President Asif Ali Zardari will meet with businessmen and delegates from the Chamber of Commerce,” Muhammad Sarfaraz Khanzada, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, told The Peninsula.
“Because this is a purely official visit, there are no plans for a community get-together with the President so far,” he said.
Ministers and officials from both sides will review various aspects of bilateral cooperation, focusing on sectors including energy, agriculture, livestock, banking, security, joint investment as well as other regional and international issues of common interest. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani is also expected to join the summit level talks.
