Indian Cultural Center marks Ayurveda Day

Doha: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Indian Cultural Center (ICC) organised an event in association with Nammude Adukkala Thottam Doha (Backyard Kitchen Garden), a garden enthusiastic group, to celebrate National Ayurveda Day on November 2, 2021, at ICC premises.  

National Ayurveda Day is observed to promote the ancient Indian healing system, well known from ancient India over thousands of years. The day is marked to spread awareness of the importance of Ayurveda in our daily lives. ICC MC Member Anish George Mathew welcomed the attendees Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Dr. Deepak Mittal, ICC coordinating officer Xavier Dhanraj, and a number of Embassy officers and Indian community leaders attended the event.

The Ambassador inaugurated the event by planting herbal saplings like basil (tulsi) and curry leaves (kadi patta) at the ICC premises courtyard.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador emphasised the importance of the ancient way of herbal treatment known to India for thousands of years and also distributed the herbal saplings to the students as a token of appreciation for their environmental activities.

ICC Youth Forum members, MES Eco ambassadors were among the participants. Among the speakers were ICC President PN BabuRajan; Nammude Adukkalathottam MC member Anil Kumar. The vote of thanks was proposed by GS of the association Jiji Aravind.
