DOHA: The British Council Delegates to COP 18 visiting schools and universities in Qatar, yesterday hosted an awareness lecture for Academic Bridge Programme students at the Education City.
The event was organised by the Academic Bridge Programme of the Qatar Foundation in collaboration with the British Council through a joint programme sponsored by the HSBC.
Fedrico Broccheiri, a third year Environmental Engineering student at the La Sapienza University in Italy and Saurav Dhakal, British Council climate change champion from Nepal spoke to students about climate change issues.
The lectures were on the science of climate change and COP18, Climate change as it affects their own country and the activities and enterprises that have developed to address climate change.
British Council Delegates to COP18 team stage a number of side events, including one with The Earth Child Institute that will focused on engaging young people for resilience and green development.
The delegates visit Doha schools through a joint programme sponsored by HSBC to speak with Qatari students about climate change, the Kyoto Protocol, COP18 and the steps young people around the world are taking to address climate changes and promote sustainability.
