Doha: The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani presided over the regular Cabinet meeting held at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
At the outset, the Cabinet condemned Israel’s government decision to expand settlement building on the Palestinian occupied lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, terming the Israeli decision as a new violation to the international law and the international legitimacy resolutions and a fresh blow to the peace efforts since such a decision comes after the UN General Assembly resolution which voted in favour of granting Palestine and updating its status to a non-member state observer.
The cabinet then considered topics tabled on the agenda as follows: Took measures to issue a draft law concerning the Qatari flag after taking note of the Advisory Council related recommendation;
Approved a draft law amending some provisions of the penalty code issued as per law No.11 of 2004 and referring it to the Advisory Council;
Approved a draft decision of the Interior Minister on issuing the executive bylaw of the law No.4 of 2009 organising the entry and exit of the expatriates and their residence and sponsorship;
Cabinet reviewed the two following items and took the appropriate decisions: A draft decision to issue the private cadre bylaw of Qatar General Directorate of Customs staff and the memo of the Ministry of Economy and Finance concerning the outcomes of the 94th meeting of the GCC financial and economic cooperation committee held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in October.
Cabinet later approved the following: A draft agreement on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between Qatar and Ukraine; a draft agreement on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between Qatar and Montenegro; and a draft protocol amending some provisions of the air transport accord between Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.QNA
