DOHA: Commercial Bank has introduced a new online security feature, ‘3D Secure’, for its Visa, MasterCard, and Diners Club credit and debit card users.
In a statement, the bank said the new feature helps protect its customers from unauthorised online transactions in line with global online security standards. Online shoppers and traders are required to type a one-time password (OTP) into a 3D Secure portal when making any transactions.
Online domains using ‘Verified by Visa’, ‘MasterCard Secure Code’ or ‘Diners Club Protect Buy sign’ payment systems require customers to use 3D Secure.
All Commercial Bank credit and debit cardholders are automatically registered for 3D Secure. The OTP will be sent to their registered mobile numbers, and supplementary cardholders (such as a spouse) are required to link their mobile numbers via Internet banking.
The feature also works overseas following registration of an international mobile number online or at a Commercial Bank branch.
Dean Proctor, EGM, Retail and Consumer Banking, Commercial Bank, said: “Online shopping and trading are becoming increasingly popular due to greater choice and convenience.
“Security is a priority at the bank and we provide latest security features to ensure our customers shop online with confidence. The introduction of 3D Secure gives them the peace of mind to transact quickly and effectively online.”
