Ahead of the historic 20th edition of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in January, organisers of the prestigious European Tour golf tournament are calling on volunteers from across the GCC to join their team as they seek to make next year’s milestone event the most successful yet.

Golf fans now have the chance to be part of history by volunteering at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Volunteering is a popular way to become involved in the game of golf and a great way to meet people and make new friends who have similar interests to you.

It is also an easy way to gain experience - whether that is in specific roles such as coaching, event management and leadership or just by being involved in large sporting events. Over the course of 20 years the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters has contributed to the growth and development of golf in the Middle East by providing a world-class sporting spectacle, bringing Qatar’s communities together for a weekend of family fun, and exposing new audiences to the sport.

And it is the team of dedicated volunteers that is responsible for ensuring all areas of the event, from on-course action to hospitality and public village, run smoothly for the professionals, VIP guests and thousands of paying spectators alike.

“For the past 20 years, the hundreds of volunteers, who are passionate about being a part of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, have been integral in keeping the tournament running and maintaining the highest of standards for this world-class, elite sports event. Our volunteers play a critical role in the tournament every year, providing much-needed support, assistance, and individual attention that is crucial for the growth and development of the tournament," explains Monica Rokk, Volunteer Coordinator for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Volunteer roles vary from marshalls and stewards, to walking scorers, leaderboard operators and tee shot measurers for the international television coverage and tournament statistics.
Hassan Al Naimi, President of Qatar Golf Association said: “We look forward to providing our devoted and enthusiastic volunteers with a memorable experience, and are so grateful for the work they always do to help make the tournament such a great success."

Richard Millington, Chief Marshall of Volunteers at Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, commented: “I have been volunteering for many years alongside people I am now proud to call my friends. Every year for Commercial Bank Qatar Masters we need something of the order of 450 volunteers that represent 25,000 man-hours of volunteering. Most of the volunteers that apply come from the local community. I, myself, am a golfer and what I find that the best part about volunteering is that I get the chance to see best golfers play and learn from their game.”
