World Cup a huge success for Qatar: C V Rappai

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has brought huge number of people of different faiths and cultural backgrounds from all over the globe providing an excellent platform to interact with each other for better understanding and promoting coexistence, said a prominent local businessman.   

Director and CEO of Video Home & Electronic Centre and Jumbo Electronics Qatar, C V Rappai said that Qatar has hosted a spectacular tournament so far, greeting Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the government of Qatar for the success of the mega sporting event.

In an interview with The Peninsula, Rappai said that the World Cup, which is providing opportunities of people-to-people contacts between visitors and people in Qatar, will open doors for further investments by international companies and businesses in Qatar.

Lauding arrangements for the mega sporting event by Qatar 2022 Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), he said that fans are overwhelmed by the hospitality of Qatar.

“Responding the call of Qatari authorities to follow law of the land and respect its culture and traditions, the fans from all over the world sit together in state-of-the-art stadiums enjoying their favourite matches. During past 14 days of the tournament, everything looks smooth which is an example of a successful arrangement,” said Rappai.

He said that fans are moving safely and enjoying the tournament, thanks to the mind-blowing arrangements.

“The organisers are not only providing free transportation through Doha Metro and eco-friendly buses but have also deployed guides at places enabling any stranger to reach his destination — stadiums, accommodations, fan zones and other places without any difficultly,” said Rappai.

He said that people who visit Qatar can realise obviously that Qatar is a country which respects all human values, cultures and beliefs.

“Qatar made a roadmap of infrastructure development projects and those related to the World Cup and implemented it successfully during past 12 years which will serve the country for decades,” added Rappai.  

He said that such mega sporting event does not only bring people from all over the world for games but they also open doors of businesses and investments opportunities.

“Apart from the game which is for sure the main attraction for visitors at this time, but at the same time they are exploring Qatar as a country for living, doing business and investments.”

“I can say with confidence that the host country of such events definitely benefits from many aspects, including business, investment and tourism,” said Rappai.

He said that the World Cup has introduced Qatar to more people in different parts of the world who will wish to visit Qatar.

Speaking about Qatar hosting FIFA World Cup 2022, he said that our businesses Video Home & Electronic Centre, Jumbo Electronics Qatar and food chain Nando’s are running smoothly.

He said that this is clear example that Qatar is hosting the most successful FIFA World Cup in the history, proving its strong capability to host such mega events without any disturbance.

“Despite the influx of millions of fans, the routine business in the county is hassle-free as usual. Traffic flow on the roads is maintained. We have extended working timing of our food chains Nando’s and Ocean Basket and other businesses until 2am. 

“The number of customers has increased significantly during the World Cup. We are receiving a large number of fans,” said Rappai.

“We are running a smooth business operation because of fantastic arrangements of the World Cup by the organisers,” said Rappai.

He said that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is unique in many ways such as world class eight stadiums located in close proximity with one another, enabling fans to watch more than one matches in a day, eco-friendly and free seamless transportation and high standard accommodations of multiple options. 

Speaking about the World Cup facilities and stadiums, he said: “I visited five stadiums which are equipped with necessary gears to provide full services to fans. The stadiums are designed in a way to enable fans to reach their seats within five minutes. Guides are deployed at places to assist the fans.”
