DOHA: The Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Positron Emission Tomography–Computed Tomography (PET-CT) Centre has been temporarily closed following a small fire that broke out in an isolated room, said a statement yesterday.
To ensure safety, the PET-CT Centre, located next to the National Centre for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR), will remain closed until it has been cleared by authorities and quality assurance testing conducted by HMC.
Patient appointments will be rescheduled after the centre is reopened, the statement by HMC said.
Staff and patients in the PET-CT Centre were evacuated as a precautionary measure after the fire broke out.
The blaze was contained quickly and effectively by a Civil Defence team.
There was no damage to any equipment nor any injuries to patients, staff or the public.
