Seminar to discuss social integration of disabled

DOHA: A specialised seminar will be held in Doha next week to discuss social integration of  people with intellectual disabilities. 
The seminar by Best Buddies Qatar, a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing lives of people with intellectual disabilities, will highlight the current situation and prospects of social integration in Qatar with the support of government institutions.
Laalei Abu Alfain, Managing Director, Best Buddies Qatar, and Ali Gholoom, Head of PR and Communications Department, Best Buddies Qatar, announced the seminar at a press conference yesterday.
The seminar on January 12-13 at Grand Hyatt Hotel will look at how social integration can help improve lives of intellectually challenged people.
It will be divided into eight subjects related to themes of social integration including religion
social life, culture and skills development. 
Experts and academics from organisations, including Asma Abdullah Al Attyia, Head of the Psychological Department of Education Faculty of Education, Qatar University, Nidal ElKazimi, Director of the Rehabilitation and Employment Department, Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, Aisha Abdulrahman, expert in additional educational support, Supreme Education Council, and Dr Mohamad Abdullah Al Marri from the Interior Ministry, will take part.
The event will focus on the role of psychologists and social workers, special education teachers, the media and students doing media-relate studies at universities and researchers working with people with disabilities.
