LONDON: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Chief Economist Erik Berglof has left the bank for a new role at the London School of Economics. Berglof played a crucial role in setting up the Vienna Initiative in 2009 that convinced big banks not to pull out of central and eastern Europe when the financial crisis hit. He was also special adviser to EBRD President. Berglof, a Swede, will become a professor and director at the Institute for Global Affairs at the LSE. He will start work there from February 1. Reuters
