DOHA: Brunei recently handed over the chairmanship of the Asean Committee in Doha (ACD) to Indonesia at a ceremony held at the Brunei Embassy.
Indonesian Ambassador Deddy Saiful Hadi accepted the mantle of chairmanship from Brunei Ambassador Nordin Ahmad.
The ACD was formally established in 2011 with the aim of promoting Asean awareness in Qatar and strengthening Asean-Qatar relations.
The ACD is composed of the Embassies of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Chairmanship of the ACD is rotated in alphabetical order for a term of one year.
The AseanFamily Day, sports events, AseanDay flag raising ceremony, and the 1st AseanNight were among the events held under Brunei’s chairmanship.
This year, ACD has several events and projects lined up, including the AseanFestival Week, continuation of its annual sports events, and the celebration of the 48th anniversary of Asean.
