DOHA: Primary Health Centres across the country received at least two million people seeking treatment throughout 2014, with the highest number of 200,668 visitors at Al Rayyan health centre.
The second most number of 190, 592 visitors were received at the Mesaimeer (Abu Hamour) health centre, said the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) yesterday.
Two million visitors were received at 21 primary health centres in three zones as Northern region, Central region and Western region.
Seven health centres in Western region has received a total around 880,000 visitors making the highest among the three regions, under which Al Rayyan and Mesaimeer health centres belong to.
Director of the Western region Kamez Al khalidi said, “Implementing new systems helped to improve our services for the visitors and raised the number of visitors compared to previous years.”
However, a data comparison was not made available. In the Central zone six health centres have received 760,000 visitors. Among them Al Muntazah has received the highest number of 133,600 visitors and Airport Health Centre 130,934 visitors.
Director of Central region, Samia Al Abdullah said: “Some primary health centres in the central region were renovated and new systems like Clinical Information System (CIS) were introduced in 2014. Also The Muntazah health centre introduced mother and child consultant services, dietitian services and health awareness programs.”
“Some health centres extended the time to receive samples for tests, introduced a hotline 107 to seek appointments and early check for cologne cancer,” she added.
In the Northern region eight health centres have received around 506,000 visitors. In the region 231,089 have visited the Madinat Khalifa health centre and 92,442 were received at the Al Gharafa health centre.
Hanan Mujalli, Director of the Northern region said: “Clinics for communicable disease were introduced at the Al Khor and Al Gharafa health centres. A mental health awareness project was introduced at several health centres.”
Al Ghuwariya in the Northern region has received the least number of visitors as 4,979 and 5,440 people have visited Al Kaaban centre in 2014.
