Kazakhstan recognises Qatar as an important partner in Gulf region

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar Askar Shokybayev said that Kazakhstan recognises Qatar as its important partner in the Gulf region in all spheres. 

“Recently both countries have realised a number of main bilateral events in politics, trade, economic and investment cooperation, which are the pillars of the diplomatically relations,” he said. 

The Ambassador said that the cooperation on the level of the ministries and agencies is also well prospering, among them one of the priorities is the investment. “Qatar has already done investment projects in Kazakhstan.” 

He was addressing a reception held to celebrate Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 7.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Askar Shokybayev hosted a reception at InterContinental Doha on December 7 to mark the 27th anniversary of the independence of Kazakhstan. The reception was attended by Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Protocol Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro and other dignitaries.

“In order to turn up the bilateral trade and investment relations, we organised the visit of the some business delegations to Kazakhstan, among them also the visits of distinguished investors, group of businesspeople. Very recently, in November 2018 a delegation of Kazakh businessmen under the leadership of the Kazakh Invest National Company Chairman Saparbek Tuyakbayev visited Doha.”

He added: “In bilateral relations, both sides are looking forward to boost the trade and investment ties, which also include important sectors of economy like tourism and travel.” 

The Ambassador said that both sides are considering establishing direct flights between two countries. “At the moment, both countries’ aviation authorities are working on common goals and options to establish such direct air connection in near future.” 

He said that that with passing years, both countries have implemented  a number of important bilateral events. “It has become a good tradition to present here in Doha the rich culture of Kazakhstan. On March 11 last year, it was demonstrated by one of our world famous Kazakh musician and violinist Marat Bisengaliev.” 

In July a big delegation of Qatari financial and banking sphere representatives participated in the event of the Astana Financial Week and of the grand opening of the newly established Astana International Financial Centre. “On September 1, 2018 in Astana, we opened the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani School, which was built within the framework of His Highness’s directives to support education and educational institutions in different regions of the world.”

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the government of Qatar and all Qatari brothers and sisters for increased attention to Kazakhstan and permanent assistance on development.

“In this regard, special mention should emphasise the constant unconditional support of the leadership of Qatar for all without exception the international initiatives of Kazakhstan, including, in the past years, actually in 2017 an important place was occupied by the support of Qatar for the candidacy of our country as non-permanent member in the UN Security Council in 2017-2018.” 

Moreover, he said, Doha fully participated in the international specialised exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana, as well as in the First OIC summit on science and technology held in September 2018 in Astana.
