KARACHI: Pakistanis applying for German visit or business visas are facing increased difficulties as a large number of Pakistanis have sought political asylum after reaching Germany during the past few months.
According to sources, 96 Pakistanis have applied for asylum in Germany referring to threats to their lives in their country due to a gang war and the Shia-Sunni strife.
Most of the applicants either claimed to be Shia Muslims or the victims of gang wars, and feared they would be killed if they went back to their country.
Some people have referred to alleged Taliban threats to their lives while applying for asylum in Germany.
The situation has upset the German immigration authorities and they have written to the German embassy in Pakistan and expressed their concerns over the situation.
The embassy has been directed to conduct strict scrutiny of visa applicants in Pakistan.
Pakistani businessmen who have visited Germany several times complain that their visa requests are being denied frequently now.
They said they should not be punished for the acts of unscrupulous individuals.
