DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has denied rumours that some nurses at the Care and Rehabilitation Section of Al Rumailah Hospital have been infected with bird flu.
“Several nurses at the section are infected with the seasonal H1N1 flu, not bird flu,” Al Sharq quoted Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Consultant for Infectious Diseases and Director of Medical Education Department at HMC as saying. He said people were mixing up the seasonal H1N1 flu with the H1N1 outbreak in 2009. However, the virus has lost its power and the disease has become similar to normal seasonal flu people are having all over the world. The impact of the infection (of regular H1NI) ranges between light to moderate, he said, adding HMC had taken measures to stop the spread of the flu among patients and other staff at the hospital.
