Doha: Qatar’s U-23 star Ahmed Alaa has predicted a tough battle when his Qatar Stars League (QSL) side Al Rayyan will clash with Al Sadd in the highly anticipated Qatar Clasico next Sunday.
In an interview with the QSL online, Alla said both the teams would be aiming for victory in the big match.
“It’s going to be a tough game, as all Qatari Clasicos are. Al Rayyan may have already won the title, but every game against Al Sadd is a major challenge. This game will be the same,” said the experienced footballer.
The Qatari youngster said it would be tough to predict a winner for the game.
“It’s hard to expect in games like this. They are big derby games, expect plenty of surprises,” he said before adding Al Rayyan were aiming for win only.
“Revenge is not on Al Rayyan’s mind as we faced defeat against Al Sadd earlier. We are just looking at each game individually. Both sides want to win.”
Alaa refused two accept that Al Rayyan’s performance declined after they lifted the title last month.
“I don’t think we have dipped off in terms of performances in recent weeks,” he said. “The manager has changed players to give them a chance, whilst resting some key players that is what has been happening at the moment,” he added.
Commenting on his own performance, Alaa said: “I will always give my best for the side, even if I am playing on the pitch or on the bench. I will let the training staff asses how I am getting on.”
Alaa while saying Al Rayyan’s next target is to win the Qatar Cup, thanked fans for their tremendous support throughout the season.
“I would like to thank them for supporting the team over this season, They played a major part in winning the QSL title, we hope they can continue to support us and push on for more titles this season,” said the Al Rayyan player.
