MOI organises workshop on building safety

Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) is organising a workshop for engineers and experts to increase their awareness on building safety.

The specialised building safety workshops being conducted by General Directorate of Civil Defence at the ministry for the engineers and engineering consultancies in the country started on Sunday.  The workshop is discussing many important topics related to the safety of the new and existing buildings. 

The subjects include basics of safety and security, ideal number of exits required, emergency lighting, fire extinguishing system for the building, different type of fire pumps, how to take control of pumping system in cased of fire, quantity of water required for each building, testing the fire system and its maintenance and the common mistakes that will block proper working of the system. The workshop also handles subjects like engineering drawings, warning system and how it is implemented and how to link the doors and lifts with warning systems.
