DOHA: The International Trade Exhibition for Construction Technology, Building Materials, Equipment & Environmental Technology for Qatar (Project Qatar 2013) yesterday marked a decade and its biggest edition to date with the participation of 2,100 exhibitors from 50 countries.
Under the patronage of The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, Minister of Business and Trade H E Sheikh Jassim bin AbdulAziz Al Thani joined trade officials and companies from around the world to officially inaugurate the exhibition.
The opening of the four-day expo witnessed hundreds flock to the Doha Exhibition Center to network, negotiate, and learn about the innovative products and services on display.
According to ifpinfo.com, Qatar is making efforts to complete major infrastructure projects including bridges, tunnels, and intersections by 2017. This includes 400 bridges and tunnels, 240 intersections and 31 other projects. Consequently, the country will witness an upsurge of proposed and awarded projects in the next two years. Qatar’s successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a major contributor to the country’s accelerated development and flourishing projects market.
On the potential impact of competition arising from the World Cup construction surge, IFP Qatar General Manager George Ayache, organisers of the expo said, “There are many highly competitive companies already operating in Qatar and the region.
There are 28 national pavilions in the expo, with Canada, India, Korea, Romania, Spain, and Thailand having their national pavilions for the first time.
