Kabul: Ten Taliban militants were killed in joint operations launched by Afghan security forces and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) during the past twenty-four hours in different regions of the country.
Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry said in a statement today that Afghan forces carried out with ISAF several joint operations killing ten Taliban militants, injuring two others, and arresting three others.
The security forces seized large quantities of heavy and light weapons.
However, the statement did not say if there were any casualties on the security forces.
Two die as train derails
Islamabad: At least two people, including a woman, were killed and 15 sustained injuries as the engine and four bogies of the Karokaram Express overturned near Bandhi railway station yesterday morning in Pakistan.
Sources said that the Karokaram Express was on way to Karachi from Faisalabad when its engine and four bogies were derailed and overturned near Bandhi railway station, leaving two, including a woman, dead and 15 wounded.
The local people on self-help basis rescued the passengers from the overturned bogies, especially from the bogey No 1 badly damaged.
The injured were shifted to Bandhi and Daur hospitals, officials added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Kathia said that emergency has been declared in the Nawabshah People’s Medical Hospital near Bandhi and Daur hospitals.
