Mariam Jassim Bujasoom to head Teacher Advisory Committee

Doha: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) announced the results of electronic vote that took place from April 27 to 29 to form Teacher Advisory Committee. During the voting, 235 teachers and academics from various independent schools competed for 18 seats.
A press release said that the Council approved the results of the election, and appointed Mariam Jassim Bujasoom as head of the Committee since she got the highest number of votes among Qatari academics.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary-General of the Supreme Education Council   H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi congratulated the winners and the supervising team on the formation of the Teacher Advisory Committee, and praised their relentless efforts over the past weeks to complete the work.
He termed the committee as an advanced step on the way to strengthen the relationship between the teachers and the SEC.
The minister said that the Teacher Advisory Committee could play a pivotal role in the decision-making through a clear and transparent mechanism, adding that he will deal with the Committee as a representative of all teachers. Improving the working conditions of teachers and encouraging Qatari teachers to participate in the development of education were the demands made by many during a recent meeting with the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.QNA
