Pariet tablet health hazard claims baseless: SCH

DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has clarified that reports on social media about health hazards of Pariet 20mg gastro-resistant tablet are baseless.
The Pharmacy and Drug Control Department said yesterday reports that the medicine could cause cancer and has been banned in Germany are not true. “No scientific study has been published in this regard and no warning issued by any regional or international health authorities. No country has recalled the medicine from the market or suspended sales,” the department said in a statement. 


Third phase of workers’ hospital completed


DOHA: The third phase of the workers-only hospital in Industrial Area has been completed, Al Sharq said yesterday.
It is one of the three hospitals being built for blue-collar workers. The other two are in Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan Industrial City. They are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2016. Each hospital will have 120 beds that can be upgraded to 200. The Industrial Area hospital will include OPD, emergency services, surgery, X-ray, laboratories and supporting services.
