Doha: The Secretary-General of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has praised Kuwait’s efforts to develop Olympic Council of Asia.
He made the remarks after returning from Kuwait where he led a delegation to the special session of OCA General Assembly. The session discussed administrative, regulatory issues related to courses in sports, the upcoming Asian Games and Qatar’s role within OCA.
He emphasised Qatar’s commitment to the Olympic Charter and international conventions.
Participants also agreed on broad outlines of the 33rd General Assembly meeting to be held on September 20 on the sidelines of the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman participated with heads of delegations in the election of the vice-president for the Asian continent in the Executive Office of Union of National Olympic Committees. He also praised results of the meeting hosted under the patronage of the Kuwaiti Emir H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
