Doha: MES Indian School has marked the World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and exuberance with students participating in various activities under the campaign slogan ‘Only One Earth.’ 

The team of CCF Leaders conducted a special assembly. Students spoke on the importance of preserving the world environment and the various precautionary measures taken by Qatar in protecting the world environment. The school CCF Secretary shared a pledge to protect the environment. 

The Department of Fine Arts organised a poster making competition on the topic’ Hug A Tree’, ‘Keep it Clean, Keep it Green’, ‘Let’s Be friends with Earth’ and ‘Be a Designer’ (painting) to generate awareness about the importance of the conservation of nature and greenery.  A myriad of creative activities such as ‘Best out of Waste’, ’Poster on Say No to Plastic Bags’, ‘Essay on Global Warming’, ‘Collage Making on the theme –Only One Earth’ were conducted for the students of KG-1 to XII with a view to sensitize the children about the ways to restore our ecosystem and to motivate them to do their bit towards making their planet a better place to live. 

Students also made amazing and creative products like wall hangings, cards, pen stands, bags, paper boxes, flowers, etc. ‘Be a Reporter activity’ in the form of power-point presentation on various environmental issues like adverse effects of rampant construction activities, cutting down of trees, pollution, destruction of forest and extinction of wildlife, etc, gave students an opportunity to play the role of young environment reporters. 

Teachers and the admin staff came dressing up in green as a mark of unity and solidarity towards world environment day. Jency George, Sneha Ramachandran, Vijayashermila, Shiney Suresh, Shiny V.T.K, Limy Mol M N, Bitty Varghese. Sibby Shaji John, Renu Raturi and Ashita Fazil were the teachers in charge of the events of World Environment Day.
