DOHA: Qatar’s Saif Mohammed claimed the silver medal at the 30th International Pole Vault Meeting in Jockgrim, Germany, after producing a personal best clearance of 5.83m on Wednesday.
The 5.83m effort saw the Qatari vaulter set new Qatari, Gulf, West Asian and Arab records, marking a major milestone in his career.
Saif cleared 5.83m on his third attempt to finish second behind Filipino star EJ Obiena, who secured the gold medal after clearing the same height on his first attempt. Turkiye’s Ersu Şaşma took bronze with a clearance of 5.77m. Saif, Obiena and Şaşma all made three unsuccessful attempts at 5.93m
