Doha Modern Indian School celebrated Onam, the harvest festival of Indian state of Kerala with many programmes. A floral carpet was made in the lobby and a special assembly was conducted where the students had a special guest — Mahabali, a legendary king from the flok tales. The joyous faces of the students beamed as they sawBaby, Malayalam teacher, enacting the character from the popular legend. A Bharta Natyam performance by Susadima, the dance teacher, captivated the audience. Teachers from Kerala enlightened  the students about the background and ethos of the festival.  Games like snatching the tail, sack race, lighting the candle, spoon and gooseberry race, pot breaking and tug-of-war were organised for different classes. Students of grades 1 and 2 also had their share of fun through ‘collecting peas’ and ‘bun biting’.
