DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce penalised some 121 business outlets across the country for violations in August.
These violations include lack of proper pricing, fake and fraudulent display of item specifications, lack of price in Arabic, lack of invoices, price increase without the authority’s approval, and display of expired products among others, the Ministry said yesterday.
Penalties varied between administrative closure and fines ranging from QR5,000 to QR30,000 in keeping with laws and regulations related to consumers’ rights. The Ministry conducted intensive inspection campaigns at outlets throughout August to ensure their commitment to the provisions of Law No 8 for the year 2008 on consumer rights
protection.
The ministry said it will intensify its campaigns to ensure stricter control over the local market and warned violators, saying they will be dealt with strictly and referred to the authorities to be penalised according to law. The Peninsula
