Geneva: The State of Qatar reaffirmed its firm support for the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan and the right of its people to a dignified life, security, and stability. Qatar emphasised its deep concern over the ongoing armed conflict, which has caused unprecedented suffering for the Sudanese people.
This came in a statement delivered today by Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, HE Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah during her participation in the interactive dialogue on Sudan, held within the framework of the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Her Excellency unequivocally condemned all violations committed in the context of the armed conflict in Sudan, stressing the importance of adhering to the rules of international humanitarian law, which prohibit targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in armed conflicts.
Her Excellency noted that since the beginning of the crisis, the State of Qatar has been committed to providing all forms of support and assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people during this critical humanitarian situation. She pointed out that, continuing these efforts, Qatar Charity has allocated approximately QAR 18 million (nearly USD 5 million) to respond to humanitarian interventions in Sudan for 2026, addressing needs related to displacement, food, health, shelter, water, and basic services.
The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva commended the international and regional efforts to find a peaceful settlement to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
She emphasized the necessity of dialogue among all Sudanese parties and the importance of launching broad, Sudanese-owned negotiations that will ultimately lead to a comprehensive agreement and lasting peace.
