Doha: The Gate Mall held a special activity in celebration of Eid Al Adha from September 30 to October 6.
Guests were invited to participate in an origami workshop to master the art of folding paper into shapes to be used to decorate the mall’s iconic tree sculptures.
Two professional artists were flown in from Origami Institute of Arts in Egypt to lecture adults and children on the history and origin of origami.
The artists also showed participants how to fold papers into shapes and educated them on their meaning.
Isabella Ibrahim, the mall’s Marketing and PR Representative, said: “We are pleased to offer this unique activity to guests during Eid.
“These holidays are an excellent time for people to come together in the spirit of art, craft and sharing.
“Origami is not only fun, but also a special art that requires skills and attention.
“The mall always strives to come up with new activities to bring the community together, and this one allows one to explore his/her creativity.
“We are sure that participants will have a new, enhanced appreciation for the art. We are also excited to see our trees fully decorated by the end, as they represent the mall’s passion for artistic expression.”
The activity was held at the mall’s central court from 11am to 9pm for the public and passers-by to enable them to enjoy Eid in an innovative and artistic way.
