Emir attends Qatar Chamber celebrations

The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and other dignitaries at the Qatar Chamber golden jubilee celebrations at Grand Hyatt Hotel yesterday.  

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, attended the Golden Jubilee celebration of Qatar Chamber (QC) held yesterday.
The celebration at Grand Hayatt Hotel was attended by the Prime Minister And Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, a number of their excellencies sheikhs, ministers, the chairmen of the Gulf and Arab Chambers of Commerce and leading.
The Minister of Economy and Trade H E Sheikh Ahmad bin Jassim bin Mohammad Al Thani said that celebrating the Golden Jubilee of QC is an occasion that deserves all the recognition and attention because it reminds of the first beginnings of building the Qatari economy, it is also a moment of inspiration that includes a lot of lessons.
He said the Minister said that Qatari businessmen were able over 50 years of the march of the Qatari economy, to be the real fuel for the first breakthrough, and they were able to be hand-in-hand with the government in achieving its development goals and strategy.
QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed Al Thani expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the Emir for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem has highly valued the efforts of the wise leadership for transferring the Qatari economy from the depth of the gulf to space, voicing more appreciation and gratitude to the Emir for whatever progress and welfare the Emir has offered to Qatar and its people and support and guidance offered to the private sector.
The chairman said: “Our leadership across a half-century has been able to surpass all difficulties  until we bring Qatar today to the suitable status and position it deserves... A prominent and shiny name sparkling in the sky of the economy, politics, media and sport with the people of Qatar have a dream and hope for a future they  make themselves toward more progress and prosperity,” 
He emphasised the first democratic experience Qatar has witnessed in the mid of the 90s through the election of its board of directors in April 1998 and according ample room for the Aatari women and the youth to share in the board of directors membership to the interest of the private sector and further enhancing the Qatari economy.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem said that the QC was the first Arab and Middle Eastern chamber to host the World Chambers Congress earlier this year adding that the QCCI has successfully managed to be a member in the 20th consultative group and to be a headquarters of the Islamic Chambers in addition to hosting the Regional Office of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
During the celebration, a documentary about the date of the establishment of QCCI, its activities in particular and the development stages of economy and industry in Qatar in general, was also projected.
