DOHA: The Medical Education Center at the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) held a scientific meet on diabetes research recently at its education centre.
The event highlighted the importance of clinical research particularly those dealing with diabetes, and was attended by physicians, clinical researchers and distinguished lecturers.
It was held under the theme “How can we protect our future against diabetes” and was organised in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar (WCMC-Q), Texas A&M at Qatar (TAMU-Q) and Qatar Foundation Research Forum.
Dr Abullatif Al Khal, Director of HMC’s Medical Education Center and Dr Mahmoud Al Mazrouei, Head of Diabetes and Endocrinology at HMC addressed the opening ceremony.
Dr Mohamed Abdulghani of TAMU-Q gave two lectures, one of which emphasised the need to conduct research studies in the field. Dr Curtis Tablet from the same university delivered two lectures. The first lecture focused on how to develop clinical research studies, while the second discussed ways of improving medical treatment through research.
Dr Thana’a Saeed of Qatar Foundation Research Forum discussed how clinical research studies are funded, and Dr Wolf Jange of Vienna Open Medical Institute spoke on the institute’s efforts to disseminate scientific knowledge and establish collaboration among healthcare providers.
