DOHA: Free bus service may soon be available for people wanting to explore the tourist destinations in Qatar.
The buses will be introduced by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning as a part of a national plan to promote tourism in the country, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.
The service will be accessible to citizens and expatriates as well as foreign tourists.
In the initial phase, the buses will conduct shuttle services to places of importance inside Doha city, while buses to destinations in other parts of the country will be introduced at a later phase, said the daily.
The tourist buses, with dedicated pick up and drop off points will also help reduce traffic congestions across Qatar, it added.
