Doha: Ooredoo has announced that it will continue sponsorship of two top Qatari motorcycle riders Mashel Al Naimi and Fahid Al Sowaidi for the fourth consecutive year.
The sponsorship, which will support the champions throughout the 2016 sporting calendar, will them participate once again in Qatar International Superbike Championship which began in September 2015 and continues next year.
The event, organised by Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), will comprise seven events and the points obtained in each race will count towards the Qatar Superbike Championship title. As part of sponsorship, competitors will receive Ooredoo branded bikes, helmets and jumpsuits.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Communications and PR, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We want to develop the next-generation of Qatari motorcycle talent and these athletes are great role models for Qatar’s children.
“Sponsorships such as this support local talent to do what they love best, and we hope it inspires others to follow their dreams.”
Al Naimi said: “We want to thank Ooredoo for continued support. Sponsorships from companies help us continue our passion and hopefully increase interest in motorcycle racing in a wider section of Qatar’s community.”
Al Sowaidi said: “Thanks to the company’s support, we have created the first Arab motorcycle team, and now are a strongest Arab team in the region.
“We’re working hard to develop our team to reach and compete internationally and couldn’t have made it this far without Ooredoo,” Al Sowaidi added.
Ooredoo sponsors sporting and athletic events in Qatar, including activities for Qatar National Sports Day and the company’s annual marathon.
