NEW DELHI: A.B. de Villiers and Faf du Plessis continued South Africa's dour batting display Monday as the visiting side reached 94-3 at lunch on the fifth day in its effort to draw the fourth and final test against India.
South Africa, which had scored 72-2 off 72 overs Sunday, found a way to slow its scoring even further, accumulating just 22 runs for the session off 32 overs.
Captain Hashim Amla was the man dismissed, bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.
De Villiers has made 26 off 203 balls so far and de Plessis was on 2 off 61 to frustrate India, which had set an improbable 481-run target for victory over five sessions.
India has already taken a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.
